Brief facts about colours:

Color or colour is the visual perception based on the electromagnetic spectrum. Though color is not an inherent property of matter, color perception is related to an object's light absorption, reflection, emission spectra, and interference. For most humans, colors are perceived in the visible light spectrum with three types of cone cells. Other animals may have a different number of cone cell types or have eyes sensitive to different wavelengths, such as bees that can distinguish ultraviolet, and thus have a different color sensitivity range. Animal perception of color originates from different light wavelength or spectral sensitivity in cone cell types, which is then processed by the brain. Colors have perceived properties such as hue, colorfulness, and luminance. Colors can also be additively mixed or subtractively mixed. If the colors are mixed in the right proportions, because of metamerism, they may look the same as a single-wavelength light.

Chromophore - A chromophore is a molecule which absorbs light at a particular wavelength and emits color as a result. Chromophores are commonly referred to as colored molecules for this reason. The word is derived from Ancient Greek χρῶμᾰ 'color', and -φόρος 'carrier of'.

Color analysis - Color analysis, also known as personal color analysis, seasonal color analysis, or skin-tone matching, is a term often used within the cosmetics and fashion industry to describe a method of determining the colors of clothing, makeup, hair style that harmonizes with a person's skin complexion, eye...

Color in Chinese culture - Chinese culture attaches certain values to colors, such as considering some to be auspicious or inauspicious. The Chinese word for 'color' is yánsè. In Literary Chinese, the character 色 more literally corresponds to 'color in the face' or 'emotion'.

Color mapping - Color mapping is a function that maps the colors of one image to the colors of another image. A color mapping may be referred to as the algorithm that results in the mapping function or the algorithm that transforms the image colors.

Complementary colors - Complementary colors are pairs of colors which, when combined or mixed, cancel each other out by producing a grayscale color like white or black. When placed next to each other, they create the strongest contrast for those two colors. Complementary colors may also be called "opposite colors".

Impossible color - Impossible colors are colors that do not appear in ordinary visual functioning. Different color theories suggest different hypothetical colors that humans are incapable of perceiving for one reason or another, and fictional colors are routinely created in popular culture.
